Joseph Smith—Matthew

Today I worked for 9 hours, including training a new person. I slept for about 5 hours last night.

After work, I took a nap for about 1 hour and ate some dinner. I chased a thunderstorm for about half and hour, then drove to church to play the organ for about 45 minutes.

Mashed potatoes!

Today I worked for 9 hours and did some grocery shopping. I napped for about an hour after work.

Today I made some mashed potatoes with cream of shrimp. It actually tastes really great! I have now graduated to warm soft food following my wisdom teeth being pulled.

Today, FHE was hosted at Steven Richards. We went around the room sharing our names because there were a lot of new people present. We had a lesson based on Elder Holland’s talk “The Inconvenient Messiah.” The temptation is to want a convenient Messiah, but The Lord wants us to work for the things in our life.

When on drugs…

Don’t worry about that title, it’s not as bad as it seems.

On Saturday, despite the fact that the dentist said I should be a couch potato for a few days after those darn wisdom teeth were pulled, I helped my Mom clean the church building in Appleton. I did do light work, thankfully. After we go done with that, we went to McDonalds so I could have some ice cream and Mom could have a burger. We also did a little bit of grocery shopping as well.

In Pain

Wednesday and Thursday I worked for 9 hours each and I was trying to fix a problem I’ve been getting with Google Chrome.

On Friday, I worked for 6 hours, came home to have Geek Squad try and fix the issue with Google Chrome, but my dad turned off the computer while they were fixing it. I will need to have them work on it later today.

I also had all 5 of my wisdom teeth plus one other tooth pulled yesterday as well. It didn’t feel to bad while they were working on me, but after the numbness wore off, it started to get painful. After I took pain medicine, My pain became more bearable and sleep definitely helps to keep my mind off of it. I think I’ll enjoy eating ice cream and pumpkin pie for a week!

Institute again, yay!

Today, I woke up at 3:45 after getting about 7 hours of sleep including a nap yesterday. I worked for 9 hours.

I took another nap today for about 45 minutes or so.

Today is so wonderful, after about 2 or 3 weeks in a row with having computer issues to resolve that included 2-hour-long phone calls, I got to attend institute again today.

FHE in Oshkosh

Today I woke up at 3:30am wide awake and ready to start the day. I worked for 9 hours. After I got home, I took a nap for about an hour.

This week’s FHE was hosted by Katie and Emilie Kakuschke. Katie gave a lesson on gaining a testimony of Jesus Christ. There are three forms of knowledge: through experience, through study, and through revelation. Experience Our experiences through church activity increases our knowledge. Study This is done through reading scriptures, general conference talks, and other forms of studying the gospel. Revelation This is done by seeking the help of Jesus Christ through the Holy Ghost giving us promptings that the Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. Testimonies, like gas tanks in a car, must be filled and nourished to remain strong.

Following that lesson, we went to the park across the street and played volleyball in the sand pit area with a gigantic beach ball. Our refreshments were root beer floats, my favorite!

Birthday Weekend

On Saturday I slept in until almost 7am, this is for sure going to throw off my sleep schedule.

My mother and I went to a little gathering to celebrate Pioneer Day hosted by the Appleton 2nd ward and later went grocery shopping.

For a few hours, I worked on an arrangement of John Philip Sousa’s “El Capitan” march. I was invited to give a blessing to someone in the hospital in evening, but before I left I was trying to fill my vile and the bottle exploded all over my shirt and the floor.

Ready for the Weekend

On Thursday, I woke up at 3:30 and worked for 9 hours. After work, I updated the computer to Windows 8.1 and went to the bank to open an account so I can use it for my mission.

On Friday, I once again woke up at 3:30 but only worked for 6 hours.

After work, I was on the computer for a few hours writing music and publishing other works of music. We had “sports” night at the church today, which mainly consisted of cleaning the church and talking in the hallway. We then went to Dairy Queen for a little bit of ice cream, which wasn’t a great idea because it was quite windy and cold outside.

Service for my Grandmother

Today I woke up again at 3:30 after a nice 6.5 hour long nap. I worked today for 9 hours.

After work today, I picked some tomatoes out of the family garden in our balcony and brought them to my Grandmother. While I was there, I moved her old picnic table to the curb for the garbage truck to pick up.
