Today I worked for 9 hours, including training a new person. I slept for about 5 hours last night.
After work, I took a nap for about 1 hour and ate some dinner. I chased a thunderstorm for about half and hour, then drove to church to play the organ for about 45 minutes.
Institute began at 7pm. Today we covered Joseph Smith—Matthew, which I discovered today doesn’t have the same ring to it that Joseph Smith—History does. We discussed the differences between Matthew and JS—Matthew (1-4), including the second coming of The Lord and Jesus at the Temple of Jerusalem. The first 4 verses of Matthew 2 and JS—M answer questions that Jesus’ disciples had.
5-21 prophesy about destruction, 22-55 prophesy the latter days. We discussed how in the last days, there will be false Christs and prophets, peoples love will wax cold, and there will be destruction. If you want to survive the destruction, you need to stand in holy places (aka temples). Our homes came be temples as long as we remain worthy.
It is our duty to be watchmen on the tower and warn members of the Church of false prophets and false teachers. – Elder M. Russell Ballard
Satan is a skillful imitator. – President Joseph F. Smith
We should not fear wars and rumors of wars. We must remember the Lord’s admonition, “these things must pass.”
