The Call to Serve—Version 2.0

I’ve been on a service mission now for approximately 7 months now. I’ve wanted to serve a mission for almost all my life, but in recent years I was disqualified because of my weight.

That has changed.

Through persistence, hard work, and relying on the Lord, I’ve lost more than enough weight to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After a week of anxiously awaiting my call letter, this morning it finally came.

Dear Elder Blodgett:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the California San Fernando Mission. it is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months.

You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the English language. Your assignment may be modified according to the needs of the mission president.
