Well, I’m getting transferred. I’m off to Mint Canyon for my last 6 weeks on the mission with 2 new companions, Elders Clark (not the person I trained, a different Elder Clark) and we will be finishing the training of another missionary, Elder Carter. I’ll explain more later, but it made for an interesting round of transfers.
Tuesday, we began our week with weekly planning. I also learned some unfortunate news about Elder Postelnicu. He’ll be returning home early and will be reassigned to a service mission. We did knockout and had dinner with our favorite member in the ward and they also had the senior couple over for dinner with us. It was such a nice time.
Wednesday, we did service at the food bank, which unknowingly would become our second to last time doing a district service project because the next day at Zone Training Meeting, an announcement was made that district service projects are no longer allowed. We were able to contact a lot of old potential investigators later in the week, even if that means that most of them weren’t interested.
Thursday, we had Zone Training Meeting, and before that I made homemade Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Yum! I got my “don’t be trunky” letter from President Henrie/the mission office which also told me about the fact that I start MyPlan this week. Woah!
Friday, we did service at the food bank for the last time because of previous announcements. We fulfilled our obligation because we told them earlier that we’d come. We were on exchanges. I was with our district leader’s companion because Elder Postelnicu and Elder Durrant were on the departing temple trip.
Saturday, we began our day with coordination meeting with our ward mission leader and ward mission leaders. We had companionship study and worked hard awaiting transfer calls. We talked to a lot of people about the easter initiative which is currently available at http://mormon.org talking about how Jesus Christ and His atonement bring us peace. We received the transfer call and it said that I would be staying.
Sunday, I eagerly told people the news that I was staying and the ward was indeed grateful for the news. We went about our day and had a few lessons with investigators. We came home so Elder Postelnicu could pack and we get a call from the Assistants to the President around 9pm. The news is that I would instead be leaving and that they would shut down our area and I’ll be getting transferred to a car/bike area. This morning, President Henrie called and shared the same news as if I didn’t already hear it from the Assistants last night.
